On Sunday (June 12), police authorities in Idaho detained 31 individuals belonging to a notorious white supremacist organization, accusing them of orchestrating a riot during an LGBTQ Pride parade. The white males sporting masks and shields were noticed climbing onto a U-Haul truck by a nearby native in the city of Coeur d’Alene, according to officials. The truck was quickly halted, and the individuals in question – Patriot Front militants – were apprehended.

“They came to riot downtown,” stated Lee White of the Coeur d’Alene Police Department. The truck also included paramilitary gear and a smoke grenade, according to him. The truck came to a halt nearby the Coeur d’Alene Pride in the Park celebration, which was hosted by the North Idaho Pride Alliance. The white supremacists who were detained in the state of Idaho in the United States have issued no official statements thus far.

Throughout social networking sites, videos and pictures have widely surfaced of the detainees wearing masks and kneeling on the grass having their arms secured behind their backs. According to the cops, they were notified by a neighboring inhabitant who said it “appeared like a tiny army” was hopping up onto the vehicle. As per authorities, the Patriot Front militants detained come from 11 other states in the United States, with just a single member from Idaho itself.

Following the horrific Unite the Right demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia back in 2017, the Patriot Front was created. As per the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors racist as well as extremist groups, the organization’s manifesto advocates for the establishment of a white ethnostate in the United States. The SPLC noted about the Patriot Front: “Patriot Front concentrates on theatrical speech and activities that can be readily circulated as propaganda for its chapters around the country.”

Patriot Front is affiliated with the alt-right sector of white supremacists, according to the civil rights group ADL, however, professes to be “patriotic.” According to ADL, it has advocated for “American Fascism,” which it describes as a “return to the traditions and qualities of our forebears.” The organization’s ideology asserts that non-whites are simply not “Americans,” and its insignia features the fasces, a Roman bundle of sticks employed by Mussolini’s Italian Fascists last century, as per ADL.
